We offer the chance for you to experience the satisfaction of a fishing trip on one of our purpose-designed boats. The snapper fishing in the Hauraki is legendary. So why not put our years of local knowledge to use. Come see for yourself what it is all about. Whether you're a master fisherman or a novice without any tackle we are here to ensure you have the best day.Wayne Banks is the owner and operator of Neptune Fishing Charters. He has over Ten years experience in the marine industry and has been operating charter boats fishing in the Hauraki Gulf since 1997.
On either our day or evening excursions you can come on your own or with a group of up to 20 people. We also offer three day live aboard trips to enjoy the wonders of the outer Gulf and Great Barrier Island, six people is the number Wayne recommends on these trips. Your family, club, work or friends could charter us for a cruise around the Auckland harbour. Or maybe go ashore at Motuihe Island and be served a delicious BBQ meal. A BBQ is also available on board for your use on group charters. Combine these options with fishing if you wish. If you want to do something different just ask and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
The Hauraki Gulf is a myriad of islands offering an ever-changing vista of land, sea and sky to entertain you as we travel. Many of the islands are managed by the Department of Conservation and remain in native forest. It truly is very beautiful.
Facilities: Rod hire available, Tea and coffee provided, Plenty of shelter ,Free hand lines , CD player, Full galley, Clean toilet facilities, Experienced skipper, Spacious well appointed practical fishing area, Rod holders and racks.
Chantelle is a very beamy 12metre fiberglass displacement vessel built in 1977 as a commercial cray fishing boat. An extensive refit was carried out when we purchased her to create a very efficient comfortable charter fishing vessel. Chantelle is very suited to doing the live aboard trips with a large comfortable saloon and galley area separate forward cabin and shower.
Vicky Jane is also a very beamy boat built in 1976 and has extensively commercial fished New Zealand's coastal waters most of here life. She was purchased by us in may 2001 and under went a four-month refit to bring her up to our requirements and high standards.
Both boats are displacement vessels making for
very stable fishing platforms with plenty of room and shelter from the elements.
A cruising speed of nine knots is maintained in most conditions. Our vessels
are maintained to a very high standard and meet or exceed NZ safe ship management
criteria as set out by the maritime safety authority of New Zealand.Both vessels
have: Colour video fish finders, GPS chart plotters, VHF radios, High power
CD sound systems.
About the bananas: It is a long held superstition that it is bad luck to take
bananas on board a boat and as we can all do without bad luck we do not allow
bananas on our vessels. Seriously the number of times I have found bananas
on board thrown them away and there has been a drastic and immediate increase
in the fish been caught it must be true.
